Leading Music Industry Executive and Promotions Guru Johnnie Walker
Coming To Cincinnati To Meet Potential Rising Star "Is Greater Cincinnati a hotbed for undiscovered R&B talent? Are we a Mecca for musical artists with a flair? Johnnie Walker, one of the top music industry executives and artist promoters, thinks so and she’s coming to the area December 8 to find out.
“This is an excellent opportunity for artists in the TriState to gain access to a leading music industry executive. Also, Johnnie will be talking about how people can get involved and become empowered on a grass roots level in their own success.” said independent recording R&B/Jazz artist and NABFEME member, Dawn Woods who is organizing the event.
Ms. Walker is founder of the National Association of Black Female Executives in Music and Entertainment, Inc. (NABFEME), a non-profit whose mission is to raise the profile and increase the awareness of Black women in music and entertainment. As Head of Urban Promotion for Stephen Spielberg’s DreamWorks Records, she marketed the musical careers of superstars The Isley Brothers, Floetry, Burt Bacharach and more. As Sr. Vice President of R&B Promotion for Island Def Jam, she marketed Eddie Murphy’s comeback movie, “The Nutty Professor”, Jackie Chan’s “Rush Hour” and #1 Gold and Platinum albums from artists such as Jay-Z, DMX, Dru Hill, Ashanti and LL Cool J.
Who will be next? Entertainers and musicians are invited to this free, rare opportunity to meet and network with Ms. Walker, and learn more about “how to make a career work” in the music industry. Save the date, Friday, December 8th, 8:30 to 12:30 p.m. at Mesh in West Chester (6200 Mulhauser Rd). To learn more, the public may visit www.nabfeme.org or www.dawnwoods.com
